The heat has been delayed |

Due to high winds and dangerous rowing conditions, FISA have decided to delay our heats until tomorrow. So it's training as usual now. In the meantime, happy halloween; here's a nice article in the Sunday Telegraph today by Rachel Quarrell about Hodge and me. |

This is just a very quick note to say that the weather has been like a perfect british May for the last week. Training has been a lot of fun and so have the two trips to see a bit of the countryside in New Zealand. It was nice to get out of the hotel. Today is the opening ceremony and a strong tail wind has picked up making the course unrowable for practice. |

We’re now 5 dinners and 10 breakfasts (if you include 2nd breakfasts) into the pre-world championship training camp – I think that’s just about enough to fully get over the +12h time difference and 36 hour journey from door to door. I shouldn’t really whinge about the length of the journey. Air New Zealand (and this isn’t a cheap plug) couldn’t have looked after us any better. Most of the team slept for about 24 of those 36 hours and the organisation from the team and airways staff got us checked into the hotel in Hamilton in the best possible shape. |

I am just seven hours away from boarding the long flight from the UK to New Zealand. The bags are packed, all the preparation that we can do here, both on and off the water, is done. There is a real sense of excitement amongst the GB Rowing Team that we’re about to go away together and do something special – hopefully with Hodgey and me leading the way. |
