On Friday (5th March) I’m taking part in an indoor team sprint rowing race to celebrate the 80th birthday of veteran rower Lord Snowdon and raise money for The Snowdon Award Scheme.

Wind and rain in Portugal
We came out to Portugal for the first time exactly one year ago. I was a long way from being race fit after a short post Olympic break and it was the national team’s first big-boat rowing camp of the season. The weather was perfect, with glass flat water and a cool, bright sunshine.

Indoor Rowing
The annual British Indoor Rowing Championships are being held today (Sun 22nd Nov) at the Birmingham NEC. 2000 meters on the ergo against the clock. The mens' open heavyweight division starts at 13.50 and can be followed via live video, results and twitter.
 
1000 days to 2012, October 2009
The opening ceremony for the London Games (which takes place on my 31st birthday) is now less than 1000 days away . Those days will contain many miles of rowing, weights lifted, food eaten, hours slept and much pain, trial, torment – and elation.
