I attended a lunch today (26th Nov) for the Sports Journalists' Association Sports Awards at The Brewery in the City of London. It was a fantastic event with sportspeople past and present attending and was supported by Princess Anne.
The coxless four were extremely happy to win the President’s Award chosen by Sir Michael Parkinson and it will be the first trophy to be taken back to Caversham. The Great Britain rowing team were also nominated for Team of the Year.
Other awards went to:
Chris Hoy- Sportsman of the Year
Rebecca Adlington – Sportswoman of the Year
Outstanding sporting performance - Nicole Cooke
Best international newcomer - Rebecca Romero
Bill McGowran Trophy for the Disabled Sports Personality of the Year - Paralympic cyclist Darren Kenny
Best International Newcomer - sprint cyclist Jason Kenny.
