Liverpool
Having never been to Liverpool in my life before, I have now been twice in 3 days. First was Sports Personality of the Year on Sunday (14th Dec) at the Echo Arena.

There were more spectators than ever before and the show ran really well. It’s difficult now that we’re doing different things to get all of the coxless four together in the same place so it was a good excuse to see each other and also the rest of Team GB, plus I got to meet a few of my sporting heroes at the after party which was cool.

I came back down south on Monday to visit the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford with Hodgey and Acer to chat to the children who will be staying there over after Christmas and show them our medals. They were a lovely bunch of kids and it was a pleasure to meet them and their parents too – I hope they have a speedy recovery.

I went to Liverpool again today (16th) to meet the team at the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and attend the opening of their new centre. Duncan Bannatyne opened the new offices as the Foundation’s new patron. They are a brilliant group of people and it’s great to be part of their team.
