I’ve been looking forward to writing this blog for weeks now. The press announcement today confirms a few rumours that Hodge and I will make up the men’s pair for the World Cup season 2009 and perhaps beyond.

As a new change to the lead boat the two of us (and I think Jürgen too) are really excited about the fresh chance to race internationally again. For me, the excitement comes from having all new opposition to learn about and a new boat to master as we progress through the season using our experience from the four and our previous national trials experience.

What will the internationall circuit hold for us? To be honest, I can’t say, but as it stands I’m thrilled with the new project. Having never raced a pair internationally, we don’t quite know where we will be, but we have to back ourselves! The first test will be in Banyoles, Spain at the World Cup in 4 weeks (end of May). As for now, it’s training as usual. Happy days.
